I finally got my dyno running and making graphs. I tested (a not very controlled test) a stock CY26cc engine with the stock exhaust can so far, and I am getting about 2.2hp @ abut 11,000RPM, which is about right for the stock G260 with a can. I have a lot to learn yet about this dyno, and still have to get the engine temp and EGT set up to control those factors better. It might take me half the summer to get the best graphs I can get. But---when I do, I plan on posting good findings on this ...

I just opened up the box that has the new Zen 4-bolt 36mm bore top end kits (A Christmas eve delivery). I have to put a long block together, and measure it all up, but here is what I see so far. The porting looks simular to the G270 4-bolt we have now, but the cylinder is a new casting, with thicker walls. The skirt outside diameter is still 38mm so it will fit on all of our 4-boilt bottom ends, but the 1mm thin skirts are shorter than the skirts we use now. We have seen a few broken skirts, ...

The Zenoah Owners Service manual states the ignition timing of a Zen 260 to be 30 Degrees BTC @ 7000 RPM.. At 500 RPM the Timing was EXACTLY 28.5 degrees before TDC. I swapped both the Red module and flywheel with another pair from my spares cabinet and the reading was once again 28.5 degrees @ 500 RPM.

Based on just these two samples I now started my advance curve plot with 28.5 degrees @ 500 RPM. There is no spark advance or retard built into the system. See previous post that shows internal ...

Octane Numbers and What They Represent

One of the most frequently asked technical questions people ask is whats the difference between Motor, Research and R+M/2 Octane Numbers. The next most frequently asked question is why some fuel companies represent their fuels with Motor Octane Numbers, while other companies use Research or R+M/2 Octane Numbers.

Realize first that octane is a measurement of a fuel’s ability to resist detonation—nothing more. The two types of machines ...
