PostSubject: Zen G-62 throttle linkage hookup.   Sun Sep 25, 2011 12:10 pm

Hi, Seems that hooking up a linkage to the carb wont be a walk in the park compared to the Zen 23cc with a spring loaded carb. Since this motor is a plane motor and doesnt need a spring loaded carb because the throttle is adjusted by the transmitter. For dragster useage I need the carb to return to low idle. I don't think this can be achvieved with the cable method found in airplanes.I know I can figure it out ,But is there a way to do it. Or is there a different carb I can use with a spring in it.The configuration of the carb doesn't help.I'am order a new block that turns the carb. But the big thing is getting the carb to return to idle on it's own.I have seen pics with a cable hookup but I can't see if any springs were added to pull the cable back.Thanks.

Instead of a cable, try using a servo rod, once you have your trim set on the TX/RX, your servo should always return to that center point and using the rod vs. the cable will keep your carb from going to far or not closing at all.

The G62 is mainly used in the air planes, but for sometime now guys have been using them in the HPI Baja's, there linkage is made with the servo rod.

You can also use a crank bell to change direction if need be.

Here is what I came up with first. It goes full throttle but wont go back to idle all the way. It needs a bit more work. But I think I'll try the bellcrank and rod setup next. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.].

Hi, I'am going with the bellcrank and rod setup.Seems to work but I'am going to redesign the bellcrank. The DuBro ones are a bit small.

Next on the list is mounting the brakes.
I have to drill for the Raco outdrive and press fit a pin. Then mount the receiver box and battery and fuel tank. Also tap for set screws for the driveshaft.I'am waiting for the front wheels. Hopefully this week.
