Well, this is just my opinion and I hope nobody gets offended, but so far the 2010 season opener at FBF has been a disappointment.
For the past couple years, namely last years season, we had 10 to 20 cars running almost every weekend, it was action packed and the competition was great, everyone came and did there thing, we all enjoyed our race weekends.
Despite all the hard work by Larry (Laww299) and a few other members here, FBF Drag racing season has yet to get off the ground, every weekend, the crowd slims down, or by the time guys show up, the early birds flew away.
Some guys, including me, have has setup problems or family situations to attend to, which is understandable, but this is causing a major disappointment in our current and foreseeable future.

I think what we need to do is get this off the ground, on a serious note, if you live in the 5 boros, or driving distance to FBF, come on down, because we have a great turnout and I feel, things can always get better if the interest is there, I know there are many guys in Long Island, New Jersey and everywhere in between that wanna show up and see what it's all about.

This weekend, we expect 8 to 10 large scale cars, ofcourse you get the 5 or 6 nitro guys running with us, but if you have a few extra hours to spend running your car, come do it at the track.

man, sorry to hear about the low attendance. Almost wish I had the resource to come up there every weekend because you guys seem to be cool and down to earth. The type of people I can definetely share the hobby with. We have had those weekends here as well when one sunday youll have a crowd of 40-50 and the next week youre lucky if you get 10-20. Not sure what the reasons are but it just seems to happen. As of late, we've been running boats and too many boats on the lake is not good so its just been myself and another couple of my boys so we've been ok. Hopefully we'll get a nice spot to run again and have a nice crowd come out. I hope the same for you as well.

so true, we definetely have had a decrease in guys all weekend. Even in Tropical Park. Wish we had guys like NY here.

If we can race every sunday like we use too like last season, it will be a better turn out, but this every other week thing I'm not digging. If this keeps on going on like it has, I'm going back to off-road where I know there are pleantly of guys every weekend bashing and racing.

Thats actually the situation im in too, apperently we got screwed out of our hand out spot and at the same time the turn out was pretty crappy the past few months. Ive found myself dusting of my xray 808 and going back to the offroad 8th track (brushless ofcourse F Nitro) since everything esle is pretty much dead. Even at the offroad track is kinda dead.......

I think the fact that a large % of people are in foreclosure, or there cars got repoed or there simply out of a job.........kinda kills the joy of going out and playing with a R/C car or anything else for that matter???

Long story short for the timing being my speed demons are pretty much worthless to me since we have no where to run anything over 70+MPH......

i went the dirt route this last weekend at powerjam. not one complaint. very very fun and great people.

i knew i wasnt setup for it, but i drove anyways.

truth is... i was made for tarmac racing.
i never came close to reaching a decent speed unless it was before a crash.
the motor overpowered the track. i could only use 1/2 or 1/4 throttle to stay ON the track.

the cleanup? that is the worst part.
at least when we shine our street buggies, they keep looking that way longer than 30 seconds after a run.

the problems at fbf are simple, but complex. lets leave out the complex.
simply put: we want to race often. period. not to mention the comradery.

no one wants to wait 30mins to run when you can pick on the local nitro guy, or motorcyclist into a drag race. why all waiting till the end of the season to find out just how fast you really are.

sure, we also had competitions at NOLA, but guess what.. the biggest turnout was during test and tune. the guys there are wearing out the timing light and losing their voices from all the talkin. good times mang!

im sure you've seen it. have you ever eaten at a place where no matter how bad the food is, you'll always return to that awful restaurant because of the good service?

just food for thought.

I am trying to understand what happened this year, were not even getting the nitro guys to come out. maybe we missed something, if there is something being said about the club we would like to hear about it, if you have comments ,good or bad tell us, maybe we can fix it. if the membership fee is an issue.tell us. we are not charging a fee to make a profit, We will be glad to explain what the fee is used for. (PERMITS, INSURANCE, REPAIRS OF TRACK EQUIPMENT, TROPIES ECT.)
